Service Officer Support

The Post Service Officer is trained to assist veterans figure out VA paperwork and assist connecting with programs that are potentially useful them them.  Click here to contact the Post service officer.

Some of the programs that are offered by The American Legion include
                  
                   Temporarily Financial Assistance  (TFA) - For temporariy assistance in paying housing or clothes/food supporting chaildren in a family 
                 
                   National Emergency Fund which assists in rebuilding after a natural disaster 

DAV Van Support

Post 2003 members provide drivers and buddy riders for the DAV Van operated out of Charlottesville. This program provides transport to area veterans that need to arrive at McGuire VA Hospital in Richmond but may not be able to get ther eon their own.  Several thousands of miles and hundreds of hours are compiled by these members.

VA Hospital Support

Members of the Post and American Leigon Auxilliary volunteer at the McGuire VA Hospital in Richmond.  Clothing and personal goods, upwards of several thousands of dollars worth a year,  as well as equipment such as TVs are donated to the hospital.

Active Duty Support

Post 2003 tries to support deployed soldiers and families via packages and assistance at home.  If you know of any active duty troops or deployed reservists/national guard, please contact Lewis Field to see how the Post can support them.
