This briefly explains the purpose of our organization.

What We Are

The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, mutual-help, war-time veterans organization. A community-service organization which now numbers nearly 3 million members -- men and women -- in nearly 15,000 American Legion Posts worldwide.

Who We Are

We are men and women who have served in our armed forces, who now serve the community of Fluvanna County in various ways. Please see the "Programs" page for some of the more visible ways.
